Master Cylinder is the NEW band on the DFW music scene! Band members Greg Lunce, Steve Millsap, Larry Edwards, Scott Cason, and Manny Cruz got together in 2008, with the goal of acheiving elite status in the “tribute/cover band” niche. With
the group's unparalleled musical ability, the classic R&B theme
was decided upon as the best way to showcase
their talent.
The band started by playing tributes to the great Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Al Green, Jr. Walker, Temptations, Isley Bros, Wilson Pickett, Sam Cooke, and other legendary, classic Stax/Motown artists that moved both white and black mainstream America into the funky groove of an original, homegrown classic genre, known as “rhythm & blues”.
To pull this off, Master Cylinder decided to step up its stage presence
with a solid (in the pocket) rhythm section, horns, two keyboard players,
guitarist, and strong lead and background vocals. The band's members are
all music veterans who have many, many years of accumulated experience playing nightclubs, honky tonks, dives, corporate galas, blues bars, weddings, outdoor festivals, large concert venues, and thousands of “one-niters” nationally, as well as in their own “backyard” here in “Big D.
In addition to the powerful R&B repertoire, Master Cylinder also adds some jazz, rock and roll, and selected country to our play list emphasizing ENTERTAINMENT as well as musical ability.
